Eighty new cases, over 400 in isolation

Eighty new COVID-19 cases, 36 males and 44 females, were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from 2 544 tests conducted on Wednesday, September 1.

The new cases comprise 65 people who are 18 years old and over, and 15 under the age of 18.

There are 413 people in isolation.

Confirmed cases of the virus recorded since March last year reached 5 152 (2 535 females and 2 617 males). Fifty-one lives were lost to COVID-19.

To date, the public health laboratory has carried out 266 567 tests.

Under the National Vaccination Programme, 112 329 people received first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. Additionally, 94 803 persons or 35 per cent of the population, were administered second doses and are now fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
