The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring Hurricane Larry in the Atlantic Ocean.
There are no watches or warnings in effect for the country at this time, nor does it pose a threat.
At 11 a.m., Hurricane Larry was located near 13.5N 34.2W or approximately 2 700km (1 680 miles) east of Barbados.
It is moving towards the west at 17 mph with a minimum central pressure of 985 MB. Maximum associated winds have increased to near 80 mph.
Larry is expected to go through rapid intensification during the next couple of days and should become a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) by tomorrow night.
A gradual turn towards the west-northwest is forecast over the next few days. On its current track, this system is expected to pass well north of the eastern Caribbean. (PR/SAT)
