National No. 1 tennis player Darian King scored three important victories as Barbados defeated Indonesia 3-1 in their Davis Cup World Group II tie at the National Tennis Centre today.

After his 6-1, 6-1 singles victory over Gunawan Trismuwantara yesterday, King joined forces with long time doubles partner Haydn Lewis and secured a 6-1, 7-6(3) win over Trismuwantara and Justin Barki to lead 2-1 with reverse singles to come.

True to form, King dominated Barki in their subsequent match, winning 6-2, 6-4 to give Barbados the win and their first Davis Cup triumph in four years.

Indonesia’s lone victory came yesterday through Barki’s 6-2, 6-4 singles win over Barbadian teenager Kaipo Marshall. (NM)
