The Integrity in Public Life Bill is back on the legislative agenda.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley revealed yesterday that the intended legislation, shot down by the Senate last August, would be laid in Parliament within the next few weeks.

That is just one of three initiatives that will be brought to the House very soon, the Prime Minister said, as she also informed the country that she would be on official overseas duty at the United Nations, and that Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw would be again acting as prime minister in her absence.

“The Attorney General has indicated he will shortly be bringing to Parliament, the revised Integrity in Public Life Bill, such that we may re-introduce it into this new session of Parliament, and I hope as early as October to ensure the concerns expressed by the Senate would be expressed in this new bill. Technically we are in a new session of Parliament since September last year, and the rules of the House allow us to bring back the bill,” Mottley said.
