The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) does not foresee the return of face-to-face classes anytime soon.

Yesterday general secretary of the union Herbert Gittens told the DAILY NATION that the spike in COVID-19 positive cases and deaths was too worrying to allow children back.

He was reacting to announcements made by Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw on Friday during the first in the Let’s Talk series of virtual consultations with parents, teachers and other stakeholders hosted by her Ministry and the National Council of Parent-Teachers’ Associations.

“The surge is still on so I think based on what I am seeing that is a long way off,” he said. (SB)
