The former Alleyne School student, who was once a top recruit in the Barbados Youth Service (BYS), will get a chance to pick back up his studies as he serves 12 years for stabbing a man to death six years ago.

Justice Randall Worrell yesterday ordered self-confessed manslayer Nickolai Matthew Harrison-Thompson to attend remedial classes in English and mathematics, to learn a trade and attend anger management courses as part of the sentence imposed by the No 2 Supreme Court.

The now 23-year-old, of Chadderton Road, Carrington Village, St Michael, was back for sentencing after he had pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to unlawfully killing – manslaughter – Guyanese Brinsley Warde, 48, of Chase Gap, Halls Road, St Michael, on October 9, 2015.

He was originally charged with murdering the man but had denied that count.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale prosecuted the matter, while Harrison-Thompson was represented by attorney Safiya Moore. (HLE)
