The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 284 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, October 8 from 2 389 tests.
The new cases comprise 129 males and 155 females, 56 of whom are under the age of 18, and 228 people who are 18 years and older.
There are 519 people in isolation facilities, and 2 082 in home isolation.
Two people died from the virus, a 55-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, both of whom were unvaccinated. Ninety lives have been lost to COVID-19
Confirmed cases of the virus recorded since March 2020 reached 10 667 (5 181 males and 5 486 females).
The public health laboratory has conducted 338 510 tests, to date.
Under the National Vaccination Programme, 141 307 people were given first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.
The number of people who received second doses and are now fully vaccinated is 111 214, which is 41 per cent of the total population or 48.7 per cent of those eligible to receive the vaccine. The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
