Judge: Just leave

If there is infidelity in the house, leave. Do not react violently.

This was the advice given by High Court judge Justice Randall Worrell yesterday as he sentenced 69-year-old Horace Burgess to six years in prison for a cutlass attack on his estranged wife 11 years ago.

“There comes a time when one has to say, if one is saying enough is enough, one leaves. Whether there was infidelity or not, it is not something that you take into your own hands and take into your own hands in a most violent way. Sometimes leaving, running away, going away may be the best thing to do,” he advised.

Burgess, however, will spend a remaining 650 days after several deductions were made.

He also has to pay compensation to his wife and daughters, who were also chopped in the attack. (HLE)
