A video circulating on social media of a woman who appears to be choking a toddler is now being investigated by police.

But first they are trying to ascertain whether it is a local video.

Police are appealing to anyone who can identify either the child or the adult – who has a tattoo at the base of one of her thumbs – in the video. Members of the public are asked to contact the police at emergency number 211, Crime Stoppers at 1800TIPS (8477) or any police station.
