336 new virus cases

A total of 336 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Wednesday, November 3. The facility conducted 2

096 tests.

The new positive cases consisted of 156 males and 180 females. Of these, 74 individuals were under the age of 18, and the other 262 were 18 years and older.

There were 869 people in isolation facilities, and 6 096 in home isolation.

Three deaths were recorded on Wednesday – two Barbadian women, aged 33 and 53, who were both unvaccinated. The third death was that of a 61-year-old Barbadian man who was fully vaccinated.

They all passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. These three deaths bring the number of lives lost to the virus to 167, as at November 3.

To date, 149 534 people 65.5 per cent of the eligible population – have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign.  A total of 128 216 people (47.3 per cent of the total population or 56.1 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older.

Since February 2020, the public health laboratory has carried out 396 380 tests and recorded 19 188 confirmed cases (9 270 males and 9 918 females) of the viral illness. (MHW/BGIS)
