335 new virus cases

A total of 335 people, 155 males and 180 females, were identified as coronavirus (COVID-19) positive on Tuesday, November 9, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. The facility conducted 2 078 tests.

Of the new cases, 79 people were under the age of 18, and 256 were 18 years and older.

There were 899 people in isolation facilities, and 6 413 in home isolation.

Four deaths were reported on Tuesday – two females and two males. One female was 88 years old; she died in the Accident and Emergency Department on Sunday, November 7. The other female, aged 60, passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. The two males were 87 and 89 years old. They were all unvaccinated.  As at November 9, 187 lives had been lost to the virus.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 150 914 (66.1 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 130 910 (48.3 per cent of the total population or 57.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older.

The public health laboratory has carried out 407 217 tests since February 2020 and confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, stand at 21 011 (10 123 males and 10 888 females). (BGIS)
