Barbados’ campaign in the Concacaf Under-20 Football Qualifiers ended in misery with a third consecutive defeat yesterday at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium, going down 2-0 against Caribbean rivals, St Vincent and the Grenadines here in Santo Domingo.

After a scoreless first half, the junior Tridents were off to the worst possible start to the second when centre-back Tyrique Bailey-Edwards committed a foul in the area after being beaten by quick feet from Steven Pierre in the box.

Striker Oryan Velox then stepped up and converted from 12 yards with a timid penalty which went under Barbados’ goalkeeper Adam Mallalieu.

It was only the brilliance of the Canada-based shot stopper, Mallalieu that somehow kept the Vincentians at bay until seven minutes later. (AGB)
