Prince of Wales arrives in Barbados

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday around 11:30 p.m. on the eve of Barbados’ transition to republic status.

Prince Charles is among guests here for the historic occasion of Barbados’ transition to a parliamentary republic. He was treated to a 21-gun salute at the airport.

Prince Charles, along with President-elect Dame Sandra Mason, will feature prominently in Monday’s event which starts at 11 p.m.

They will each be conferred the Freedom of Barbados medal, after which Dame Sandra will give her maiden speech to the nation as Barbados’ first local Head of State. (KG)
