Barbadians are being warned not to put the country’s public health protocols on hold during this year’s Christmas festivities.

The caution has come from head of the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit, Ronald Chapman.

He did confirm, however, that conversations are being held at a governmental level to look into if there will be any ease in restrictions for the last weeks of 2021. He said coming out of Monday and Tuesday, when public ceremonies to celebrate Independence and Barbados’ transition to a republic were held in safe zones, they would continue to look into the organisation of safe gatherings.

“Is this something we will look at in the future? Yes. We are looking at it right now. I am hopeful we can have discussions on it and see what we can do during the Christmas process,” Chapman said during a press briefing yesterday.  (BA)
