Article by Kendy

A total of 105 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases (53 males and 52 females) were recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Sunday, December 5, from the 998 tests conducted.

The positive cases consist of 24 people under the age of 18, and 81 who are 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 283, while 2 081 were in home isolation.

Three people died from the virus on Sunday. A 48-year-old woman and 56-year-old man both passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility, while an 89-year-old woman died at the Blackman and Gollop isolation Facility. They were all unvaccinated.

As at December 5, there were 240 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 443 979 tests since February last year, and recorded 26 200 cases (12 494 males and 13 706 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 154 033 (67.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 138 267 (51 per cent of the total population or 60.5 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
