55 new COVID cases

Fifty-five new COVID-19 cases, 27 males and 28 females, were identified from the 1 207 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, December 16.

The new positives consist of 10 people under the age of 18, and 45 who are 18 years and older.

Those in isolation facilities numbered 188, while 1 410 were in home isolation.

As at December 16, there were 255 COVID-19 deaths.

The public health laboratory carried out 456 453 tests since February last year, and recorded 27 126 cases (12 901 males and 14 225 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 154 990 (67.9 per cent of the eligible population) have at least one dose. The number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 141 265 (52.1 per cent of the total population or 61.9 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
