Three more national short course swimming records fell last weekend at the 2021 International Swimming Federation’s (FINA) World Short Course Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi.

Olympic swimmer Alex Sobers set a new national mark of 48.83 seconds in the men’s 100m freestyle yesterday.

Competing in the seventh heat of the event and stationed in lane five, the 23-year-old was fifth in a tight finish.

Uzbekistan’s Aleksey Tarasenko was the eventual winner in a time of 48.45 seconds, followed by Romania’s George-Alexandry Stoica-Constantin (48.59) and Bulgarian Kaloyan Bratanov (48.62).
