112 new virus cases

Article by Kendy

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 112 new cases (50 males and 62 females) from the 705 tests conducted on Monday, December 27.

Of the new cases, 14 individuals were under the age of 18, and the other 98 were 18 years and older.

There were 111 people in isolation facilities and 874 others in home isolation.

The number of lives lost to the virus remains at 260.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 27 836 cases of the viral illness from the 466 302 tests carried out by the public health laboratory.

A total of 155 512 first doses have been administered under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign. This represents 68.1 per cent of the eligible population that has received at least one dose.

So far, 142 849 people have been fully vaccinated.  They represent 52.7 per cent of the total population or 62.5 per cent of the eligible population. The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
