One of Barbados’ oldest citizens celebrated her 105th birthday yesterday and urged Barbadians to “look to the Master” in the hope for better days.

Hermoine Parris of Moore’s Land, St John was in great form and voice, busy taking congratulatory telephone calls and greeting friends and relatives who took the time to wish her a happy birthday.

“It is only the mercy of God that I am here. Without Him I wouldn’t be here” she told the DAILY NATION.

Still a churchgoer, the lively centenarian added: “When I think about the things that are going on, when I think about it, God’s Word declares that in the last days, perilous times will be coming. But when you say perilous times, you would like to see something worse than what we are going through now, and we don’t know what is coming. (GC)
