$1m boost for athletes

The Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) will provide an additional BDS$1 million to high- performance athletes over the next year.

BOA president Sandra Osborne made the announcement during the Association’s Spirit of Resilience Sports Awards, which was held virtually and televised nationally from the Barbados Olympic Centre on Thursday.

Osborne said the BOA board of directors approved the increased funding for the island’s high- performance sports performers, as it seeks success and medals at the 2024 Olympic Games
in Paris

“One of our strategic pillars is to inspire excellence and fuel the passion of athletes,” Osborne said. (NM)
