A decision is yet to be made on the proposed return of face-to-face classes on January 24.

General secretary of the Barbados Union of Teachers, Herbert Gittens, told the DAILY NATION that following a meeting with Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw and other educators on Friday, it was still a wait-and-see situation.

“The meeting was to continue discussions on the roadmap. The date of [January] 24 is not a date, to this point, indicating that school will open. The chief said she is meeting with the Ministry of Health and Wellness [this] week, and then she will update the stakeholders after that meeting. Right now, there is no definitive date as yet for the reopening,” he said.

Gittens, who is also principal of Wesley Hall Junior School, said while January 24 was set for a physical return to the classroom, the situation remained fluid. (RA)
