Newly elected Member of Parliament for The City, Corey Lane, wants measures put in place to prevent another fire tragedy in Bridgetown.

He made the appeal yesterday following an afternoon fire in Phillips Road, Lightfoot Lane, The City, where 12 people, including four minors, have been displaced after five houses were affected. Two homes were destroyed, two extensively damaged and one sustained minor damage.

Last week, a family of five were left without a home following a fire in Wellington Street, also in The City.

With defeated Democratic Labour Party candidate for The City, Kemar Stuart, also on hand, Lane described the situation as a “preventable tragedy”. (RA)
