A 25-year-old man was remanded to Dodds Prison after being charged in connection with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He is Rhoje Asherdar Gittens of White Hall #3, St Michael, who is alleged to have committed the two offences on February 8.

He is charged with three counts of possession of a firearm without a valid licence and possession of 78 rounds of ammunition.

According to a police release, they received information and executed a search warrant at a home at Farm Road, Deacons, also in St Michael, which resulted in three high-powered firearms and the ammunition being discovered.

Further investigations were conducted.

Gittens went into custody and was interviewed in relation to the matter. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

On Tuesday, he appeared at the District “A” Criminal Court Number 1 before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes, where he was not required to plead to the indictable matters. He was remanded to Dodds Prison and is scheduled to reappear in court on March 8, 2022.  (PR/SAT)
