Dr Elizabeth Ferdinand says she is disappointed that more young people are not being vaccinated.

The joint coordinator of the National Vaccination Programme said numbers, particularly among the 12 to 15 age group, continue to fall, much to her dismay.

“There has not been a major increase. In fact, there’s a real slowdown in the uptake. I don’t know if people are out shopping for back to school or what, but there has been a slowing up in the number of people coming in for vaccines.

“I was hoping the numbers would increase, especially with the youngsters going back to secondary school but I have not seen that much of an increase, so it is a little disappointing, to tell the truth,” she said. (CA)
