Prison Fellowship calling for help
Prison Fellowship Barbados is crying out for support as the demands on its services increase.
Executive director Neil Dowden said they continued to host a feeding programme three days a week for the community as well as provide clothes and activities for children of inmates, but donations had decreased.
“The numbers of people coming to our soup kitchen has increased. In January we served around 75 and now it’s around 100. We have had to increase portions even though donations are down, so we need support to keep our soup kitchen operating,” he said.
Last year, Dowden said they were receiving increased food donations from overseas but yesterday he explained this was only during the worst of COVID-19 and was no longer the case. He added they would accept whatever people could afford, be it food, clothes or cash. (CA)
