298 new COVID cases

There were 298 new COVID-19 cases, 125 males and 173 females, recorded on Tuesday, April 5, from the 1 308 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 63 people were under the age of 18 and 235 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 75, while 2 134 were in home isolation.

A 69-year-old unvaccinated woman died from the virus on Tuesday.

As at April 5, there were 376 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has carried out 619 228 tests since February 2020, and recorded 60 890 COVID-19 cases (28 166 males and 32 724 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of persons with at least one dose is 161 241 (70.6 per cent of the eligible population).  The number of fully vaccinated is 151 321 (55.8 per cent of the total population or 66.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
