621 new virus cases

Barbados recorded 621 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 278 males and 343 females, from the 1 825 tests carried out on Tuesday, May 3, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 150 people under the age of 18, and 471 who were 18 years and older.

There were 109 people in isolation facilities, while 3 247 were in home isolation.

A 67-year-old vaccinated man and a 77-year-old unvaccinated man died from the virus on Tuesday.

As at May 3, there were 401 deaths related to COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has conducted 654 054 tests since February 2020, and recorded 71 748 COVID-19 cases (32 892 males and 38 856 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 161 776 (70.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully-vaccinated people is 152 018 (56.1 per cent of the total population or 66.6 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
