371 new virus cases

There were 371 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 164 males and 207 females, recorded on Wednesday, May 18, from the 1 362 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 102 people were under the age of 18, and 269 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 89, while 4 134 were in home isolation.

As at May 18, there were 435 deaths related to COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has conducted 676 596 tests since February 2020, and recorded 78 138 COVID-19 cases (35 716 males and 42 422 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 174 (71 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated people is 152 513 (56.2 per cent of the total population or 66.8 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
