130 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 130 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 69 females and 61 males, from the 565 tests conducted on Sunday, May 22.

Of the positive cases, 29 people were under age 18, while 101 were 18 years and older. There were 72 people in isolation facilities, and 3 765 in home isolation.

No deaths were recorded from the viral illness, yesterday. As at May 22, there were 440 deaths.

The public health laboratory has carried out 680 193 tests since February 2020, and recorded 79 049 cases – 36 100 males and 42 949 females.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 257 (71.0 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people is 152 626 (56.3 per cent of the total population or 66.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
