Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is assuring Barbadians and visitors to the island that the recent uncharacteristic lengthy delays at the Grantley Adams International Airport during peak hours, have been addressed.

The Prime Minister explained that a major source of the congestion, downed baggage conveyors, has now been fixed, disclosing that seven of the systems are now in operation instead of two or three in recent weeks.

“I took the opportunity to look at the airport and the processing, we had some issues a couple weeks ago with respect to the length of time within that 1:30 to 3:30 time frame with people being able to get access to their baggage and move out.

“The minister has now informed me that seven of the eight conveyor belts are now working, we had been down to two or three at one point and of course in this supplier chain disruption parts are like headaches, I am not fooling anybody. It therefore means that if something is wrong the rest of us have to pick up the slack,” Mottley said during a press conference at the airport last Saturday. (CLM)
