Zane Maloney will be the one to catch at next weekend’s Sol Rally Barbados after notching his first ever rallying title at the First Citizen’s King of the Hill on Sunday evening.

Maloney demonstrated his undoubted class on his third sprint on the track where he clocked 2 minutes 19.63 seconds, two-tenths of a second faster than his uncle Stuart Maloney, who registered the second fastest lap time of 2:19.83.

Both drivers are also competing in the FIA R5 Rally Championship, along with Frank Bird, son of former two-time King of the Hill Paul Bird, who finished third on his first competitive visit to the island.

Fourth overall and winner of the WRC class was another pre-competition favourite Dane Skeete.

British driver Rob Swann, who finished second in the 2020 edition of Rally Barbados, rounded out the top five finishers. Jamaican Jeffrey Panton delighted eager fans on the road on his way to sixth place overall.  (NM)
