The gang member who pumped seven bullets into a barman because that man “insulted” his gang boss was given a starting sentence of 35 years when he appeared in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday.
However, Ryan Omar Samuel will end up serving 8 717 days from today after deductions for mitigating features and time on remand were considered.
Samuel, of Grape Hall, St Lucy, was back before the court after he had been convicted, by majority verdict, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, of unlawfully killing – manslaughter – Charley Dume, of St Patrick’s, Christ Church, on April 26, 2014.
Samuel was originally charged with murdering the man at Coyote’s Den, located at the corner of Wellington Street and Nelson Street, The City.
The jury found him not guilty on that count. (HLE)
