Three medals on track at Caribbean Games

Barbados earned three medals – two silver and one bronze – in the track and field competition at the inaugural Caribbean Games yesterday in Guadeloupe.

Kyle Gale raced to second place in the men’s 400 metres in 46.23 seconds, behind the Jamaican winner, Anthony Cox (45.48). Cuba’s Lenord Castillo Padilla was third in 46.24.

Competing in the men’s triple jump, Jemuel Miller captured the silver medal with a best hop, skip and jump, measured at 16.28 metres. He finished behind the gold medallist from Cuba, who leapt 16.40, while another Bajan Nathan Crawford-Wallis earned bronze with a leap of 6.11.

Hannah Connell finished outside of the medals in the women’s 100-metre hurdles, fifth in 13.71 seconds. (KB)
