Prolific West Indies One-day International batsman Shai Hope is hoping that a change of pitch will bring him and the Caribbean side better fortune in the second match against Bangladesh today in Guyana.

Sent in to bat on a tacky Guyana National Stadium pitch in the first ODI on Sunday, the Windies batting failed to spark, and Nicholas Pooran’s side posted 149-9 in a match reduced to 41 overs a side because of a wet outfield because of rain.

In reply, Bangladesh successfully chased the target with 55 balls remaining, reaching 151-4.

The ground authorities have switched to another pitch and the West Indies will be hoping they have better results and a more even contest is played out.

“We are 1-0 down, so it is important for us to put the remedy right, and to make sure we find a way to tick all the boxes to be ready for the next game and then to get two victories,” Hope told reporters yesterday. (AR)
