Xavier new U-18 champ

Xavier Peter-Gooding is the new Boys’ Under-18 champion in the Fortress Nassco Series 2 Junior Tennis Tournament.

Peter-Gooding scored an upset with his straight-sets win 6-4, 7-6(5) over his The St Michael School mate and doubles partner, No.1 seed Adam King, in the singles final last Sunday at the newly expanded National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St Michael.

On his way to the final, Peter-Gooding also defeated Neil King 6-3, 6-1 and the No. 2 seed Jaden Chandler 5-7, 6-2, 2-1 retired.

Adam King, who had been undefeated in singles for the past two years, had a tough semi-final match before overcoming the No.1 ranked Under-16 player Xzavier Hastick 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
