233 new COVID cases and two deaths

Barbados recorded 233 new COVID-19 cases, 107 males and 126 females, from the 770 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Saturday, July 23.

Of the positive cases, there were 26 people under the age of 18, and 207 who were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 45, while 2 649 were in home isolation.

A 77-year-old male and a 79-year old female died from the virus on Saturday, which brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Barbados to 484.

The public health laboratory has conducted 722 465 tests since February 2020, and recorded 89 887 COVID-19 cases (40 986 males and 48 901 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 162,891 (71.3 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 153 905 (67 484 males and 86 421 females, which represents 56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population. The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
