COVID-19 update for July 27

Health authorities identified 330 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday in Barbados.

According to a media release issued through the Barbados Government Information Service, 136 males and 194 females tested positive for the viral illess from 894 samples examined by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The authorities indicated the new cases comprised 48 young people under the age of 18, and the remained were adults 18 years and older.

The media release stated there were 65 people in isolation facilities, while 3 171 were in home isolation.

Under the national vaccination programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose was 162 935 (71.3 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of fully vaccinated people was 153,968 (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
