The Child Care Board intends to thoroughly investigate a video which was circulated across social media platforms in the last 48 hours, which appears to show a man beating and verbally abusing the mother of his seven-month-old child, apparently in front of other children.

Director of the Child Care Board, Roseanne Richards, in brief comments to the Daily Nation, said she had not seen the video but had been informed about it, and it would be investigated.

This newspaper was also reliably informed last night that the man in the video was in custody assisting the Barbados Police Service with their investigation into the matter.

Content of the video even became a public issue yesterday, when moderator of Down to Brasstacks on Starcom Network, Peter Wickham, said he found the footage extremely disturbing and had reported it to the National Organisation of Women (NOW) and the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Barbados (BPW).
