COVID-19 Update for August 7

Barbados recorded 305 new COVID-19 cases, 100 males and 205 females, from the 811 tests carried out on Sunday, August 7, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of the positive cases, 33 people were under the age of 18, and 272 were 18 years and older.

There were 67 people in isolation facilities, while 3 385 were in home isolation.

An 87-year-old woman died from the virus on Saturday. As at August 7, there were 502 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 736 102 tests since February 2020, and recorded 95 268 COVID-19 cases (43 187 males and 52 081 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 163 001 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 154 098 (56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
