New constables of the Barbados Police Service are being urged not to make the mistake of thinking their training and education end after they graduate the academy.

That was the advice from Chief Justice Sir Patterson Cheltenham during his feature address at the 146th Passing Out Parade at the Regional Police Training Centre, after which 30 recruits officially joined the ranks of the service.

“The fast-paced environment in which we operate demands of all workers that they continually learn, discard and re-learn in order to stay relevant to the demands of their job. I further urge that you embrace the technology.

“The nature of criminal activity has changed and the deviant behind the computer screen is as dangerous or even more so than the traditional burglar, who hacked his way into a building or home. In fact, they are capable of moving vast quantities that defy the imagination,” said Sir Patterson. (CLM)
