COVID-19 Update for August 26

A total of 150 new cases, 74 males and 76 females were identified out of the 566 tests conducted by laboratories across the island, on Friday, August 26.

The cases comprise 19 individuals under the age of 18, and 131 who were 18 years and older.

There were 93 people in isolation facilities and 1 876 others in home isolation.

There were also two deaths recorded, two men age 90 and 92.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 100 676 COVID-19 cases (45 512 males and 55 164 females) from 753 032 tests.  The number of lives lost to the viral illness is 539.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 163 177 people (71.4 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose.

To date, 154 369 individuals (57.0 per cent of the total population or 67.6 per cent of the eligible population) are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents those who are12 years and older. (BGIS)
