Joseph, Kelly time trial champs again

Date:

Barbados’ top international cyclist Amber Joseph captured her third successive national time trial crown when the Stoli Cockspur National Cycling Championships began yesterday on the Mighty Grynner Highway.

The uphill finish proved little challenge for Joseph, who was riding in the colours of Legion, and easily bettered Danielle Hinds of Bike Caribbean and Marissa Bradshaw, who won last Sunday’s road race as an Independent.

Joseph finished the 15-kilometre event in 21.07 minutes, more than a minute better than Hinds’ 22.52 and Bradshaw’s 22.37.

Jacob Kelly of Sentry/Glassesco also repeated as champion in a different manner as he battled the clock, stopping it in 26.23 minutes since he was the lone entrant in the Elite Male. (KB)
