Flood watch for the north of Barbados

Date:

Share post:

Northern sections of Barbados will be under a flood watch until 6 p.m. on Thursday.

A flood watch is issued when conditions are favourable for flooding within the next 48 hours, in this case within the next 12 to 24 hours. It does not mean that flooding will occur.

A flash-flood warning may be issued at short notice tomorrow.

The Barbados Meteorological Services says parts of the island recorded accumulations between one to four inches on Wednesday. Unstable conditions, in addition to light winds, could result in heavy afternoon downpours with one to three inches of rainfall likely across northern districts.

The InterTropical Convergence Zone, in combination with a low-level trough system, continues to affect Barbados. (PR/SAT)
