Sentencing submissions in gun, drug trial on October 14

Submissions on sentence in the drug and gun matters against Stacey Terrence Richards and Grantley Dolar Babb will be heard on October 14.

Richards, a 45-year-old cook of Kingsland, Christ Church and Babb, a 65-year-old fisherman of Lower Burney, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to a 14-count indictment when they initially appeared in the No. 3 Supreme Court.

The two admitted they had 23 rounds of 9mm ammunition on March 20, 2018; that they had three .40-calibre semi-automatic pistols; that they had a .45-calibre semi-automatic pistol, as well as a 9 mm-calibre pistol.

They also pleaded guilty to possession of 232.4 kilogrammes of cannabis; having a traffickable quantity of the drug; possession of 6.5 kilogrammes of cocaine and having a traffickable quantity of cocaine, also on March 20, 2018.

Richards and Babb also admitted they imported the 23 rounds of 9-mm ammunition without a licence; that they imported the three .40-calibre guns, the .45-calibre semi-automatic pistol, the 9mm weapon, the cannabis and the cocaine, also on March 20, 2018.

Senior State Counsel Neville Watson appeared on behalf of the prosecution, while attorney Romain Marshall represented the two.

Justice Carlisle Greaves adjourned the matter.
