The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgetown is mourning the death of Bishop Emeritus Anthony Hampden Dickson. He was 87 years old.

Dickson, who was the first Roman Catholic Bishop of Bridgetown, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. He was admitted after suffering a stroke just over one week ago.

Bishop Neil Scantlebury had just arrived at the hospital to visit Dickson when he got the sad news.

“Our beloved Bishop Dickson has gone to rest in peace. As we mourn, let us remember him and his family in our prayers,” said Scantlebury.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, the Diocese said. (PR/SAT)
