Three years for fondling neighbour

No means no.

That was the stern warning given to sexual offenders as a judge sentenced a man, who forced himself on his neighbour and fondled her breasts before leaving her house, to three years in prison.

“This court must send a clear message to you and any other man who feel it’s okay to take liberties with women without their consent, that it is actually not okay,” Justice Wanda Blair declared yesterday.

“A woman is entitled to choose who she wants to share her favours with. It is time men get the message that no means no,” the judge said.

“A custodial sentence is required in this case to maintain public confidence in the administration of justice and the need to send a strong message to society that this type of behaviour will not be encouraged or condoned,” the judge added. (HLE)
