Chief education officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw disclosed that all public schools will be closed today as a result of the work stoppage staged by Transport Board workers this morning.

However, all candidates who are writing CXC examinations today, are required to report to the examination centres.

The Ministry of Education advised that while it expects that some candidates will arrive late due to the stoppage, provision will be made to accommodate those candidates.

Chief executive officer of the Transport Board Fabian Wharton, in an interview with Starcom Network News, said he is not sure why the workers are off the job, but he will be meeting with the Barbados Workers’ Union which is the worker’s representative, in an effort to have the situation resolved.
