Article by Nick Maitland

Head coach of Barbados’ CARIFTA Aquatics team Dave Farmer expects this year’s 32-member team to produce a good showing at the 36th edition of the championships from Thursday to April 12 in Curacao.

Barbados collected 42 medals in the 2022 edition hosted at the Aquatic Centre in Wildey in what was a particularly impressive meet for the island’s swimmers in the 11-12 age group, who won 34 medals among them.

The standout individual performer was Harrison College student Jaiya Simmons who won eight individual gold medals along with three relay gold medals in the 11-12 age group.

Farmer is happy to be supervising one of Barbados’ largest CARIFTA swim teams in recent years.
