Another extension coming for the Trident ID

The Government of Barbados has again extended the period for which the old identification cards will be valid.

That’s because both the Electoral and Boundaries Commission (EBC) as well as the supplier have run out of the cards, Prime Minister Mia Mottley revealed on Thursday night during the St Joseph Speaks town hall meeting at Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School.

“Don’t stress because we are going to have to extend the date. The supplier of the cards as well is not in a position to deliver any more cards for us before the end of May, or June . . . . I can’t remember,” she said in response to a query from the audience.

To date, about 140 000 cards have been issued.

The old ID cards were first set to expire on March 31 and that was later extended to June 30. No date was given on this occasion. (Nation News)
