The Burke brothers, Josh and Jacob have advanced into round three of the 2023 Pan American Surfing Games which continued yesterday in Santa Catalina, Panama.

Josh, the elder of the two was once again impressive, finishing top of heat 12 with 13.30 points while fellow Barbadian Kai St George was not also lucky as he came fourth in the same group of the shortboard event and suffered the same fate in the longboard.

The next best finisher to Burke in heat 12 of round two of the shortboard competition was Oscar Abarca (9.10) of Costa Rica in second position.

During a telephone interview with Nation Sport, Burke said he was happy with his performance because the waves in Panama suited his style of surfing.

“I really like this wave here, it suits my surfing very well. It is a solid six-foot and very breakable wave, kind of like the Soup Bowl which is one of a kind but they do have similar characteristics which have been treating me well and I am happy,” Burke said. (ML)
